Webelos Den and the Arrow of Light

Webelos Dens are comprised of Cub Scouts in the 4th and 5th grade.  At the end of the 5th grade, or upon earning the Arrow of Light, the highest achievement in Cub Scouting, boys transition to a Boy Scout Troop.

The Bobcat Badge is the first badge of rank earned by every new Cub Scout.   It is earned by learning the Cub Scout motto, promise, handshake, salute, sign, the meaning of Webelos, the Law of the Pack, and learning about the Arrow of Light.   Wolf Scouts new to the Cub Scouting program first work on earning their Bobcat Badge, and then move on to earn their Webelos Badge.

The Webelos Badge is earned by completing 12 requirements listed in the Webelos Handbook.  The Webelos program is designed to prepare a Scout for the transition into Boy Scouts.

After earning the Webelos Badge, work can begin on the Arrow of Light.  Requirements include attending a Webelos camp-out or day hike, earning 8 additional activity badges, attending a Boy Scout activity and a meeting, and learning more about the basic requirements of becoming a Boy Scout.
